Russell Westbrook Reacts to Game Winning Block on Devin Booker

The LA Clippers stole Game 1 from the Phoenix Suns

LA Clippers guard Russell Westbrook made up for a rough shooting night in Game 1 vs. the Phoenix Suns with his stellar defense. Battling defensively all night, Westbrook got the game winning block on Devin Booker on the final possession, stealing Game 1 from the Suns.

When asked after the game about that defensive play, Westbrook said, "Just awareness, and trying to make winning plays, not giving it easy. I know they want to go quick two, but just not giving in and giving up an easy two and being aware of the baseline."

On his ability to impact the game even on tough shooting nights, Westbrook said, "My whole career, man. I've been priding of myself every season to do everything. I think I'm one of those guys that can do everything each and every night. Like I've always told you guys, whatever's needed of me to win a game, I'll do it. I'm just grateful that Ty Lue and the staff believe in me regardless of my shots not falling, and allowing me to make an impact on the team and win."

Westbrook was fantastic defensively and on the glass, which was a huge reason why the Clippers were able to win this game. The ability to impact the game despite a 3/19 shooting night is something few players can do, and Westbrook showed on Sunday why he is so special.
